# Using the app

A guide to the OU AI app: signing in, memory, branching, search, files, reminders, business agents, and the controls over your own data.

Source: https://docs.omazy.ai/how-to/app/user-guide/

This page is written for the person holding the phone. The rest of this
documentation is for people running a business on Omazy; this one you can send to
a customer or a colleague without explaining anything first.

The app is in private early access, so it is not in the App Store or Google Play
yet. Invites arrive by email in batches. It needs iOS 14 or later, or Android 7.0
or later.

## Getting in

You can start without an account. Open the app and type. Nothing is set up first.

When you want the conversation to follow you, sign in with your email. A code
arrives; there is no password to choose or forget. The conversation you already
had comes with you rather than being discarded, so signing in late costs you
nothing.

New accounts start with **$5** of credit.

## The assistant remembers

The thing that makes this different from a chat box is that details carry between
conversations. Mention once that your team is eleven people, or that the budget
is 45 euro a head, and it is available weeks later in a conversation about
something else. You notice it the first time you skip setup you would normally
have to retype.

You are not managing this. There is no memory screen to curate. If you want it
all gone, you can request erasure of the account, covered below.

## Working in a conversation

| What | How it helps |
|---|---|
| **Branch from a message** | Fork the conversation at any point to try a different direction. The version you liked stays exactly where it was, so you compare instead of starting over. |
| **Search everything** | One search runs across every conversation you have had and drops you at the exact message, with the surrounding messages loaded. |
| **Pin a reply** | Keeps the wifi password, the reference number, or the recipe at the top of the chat instead of scrolling for it. |
| **Archive or end** | Closes a thread without deleting it, so the list stays short. |
| **Reply language** | Set per conversation. It answers in that language. |
| **Attach things** | Photos, files, and your location, when describing it is slower than showing it. |

Recent conversations are cached on the device, so the list opens without waiting
on the network.

## Your things

**Files.** Upload a contract, a spec, or a receipt once, then ask about it in
plain language later. Your files stay in your account, only your assistant reads
them, and you can delete any of them.

**Reminders.** Mention a date in passing and it becomes an event. The reminder
arrives as a notification rather than a note you have to go and find.

**Notifications.** A feed you can clear, and push to your device when something
needs you.

**Credits.** Your balance is in your profile. Early access accounts run on the
starting grant.

## Business agents

Alongside your own assistant, the app is where you talk to the businesses that
have published one: a restaurant, a bank, a clinic, a council. They sit in the
same conversation list, so you are not switching apps to pick up a thread.

Three ways to reach one:

**Scan a code.** Point the camera at a code on a menu, a receipt, a shop window,
or a parcel, and the right agent opens with its context already loaded.

**Follow a link.** Every published agent has an address on this domain, like
`ou.chat/somebrand`. It works in the app and in any browser.

**Browse Discover.** Search the directory by name, category, or what you are
trying to get done. It is a curated list, so not every business that has an agent
appears there. If a business gave you a link or a code, use that.

### Asking for a person

On a business agent, you can ask for a human. The app checks whether anyone is
available and moves the conversation to their team, with everything you have
already said attached. Nobody asks you to explain it again.

Your own assistant does not do this. It has no team behind it.

### What a business can and cannot see

A business agent sees the conversation you are having with it. It cannot read
your personal assistant's memory, your files, or your other conversations. That
boundary is built into the product rather than promised in a policy.

## Your controls

**External tools.** If you authorise a tool, you grant it named actions only, not
general access. Every use is written to a log you can read, and you can revoke
the grant in one tap. A revoked grant shows in the log as revoked by you.

**Deleting everything.** Request erasure from account settings. It removes your
profile, your conversations, the memory built from them, and any files you
uploaded. Records that have to be kept for accounting are kept for as long as the
law requires and no longer.

**Something wrong on screen?** Shake the phone. It reports what you are looking
at, which is faster than describing it later and is the most useful thing you can
do during early access.

## Not in yet

Named so you are not looking for them:

| | |
|---|---|
| **Voice** | No speech input and no spoken replies, in the app or the widget. Typing only. |
| **Calendar sync** | Reminders live in the app. They do not write to Google Calendar. |
| **A light theme** | The app ships dark. A light theme comes after launch. |
| **Paid top-ups** | Payments are being finished, so early access runs on the starting credit. |

## Getting help

Support is at [ou.chat/support](https://ou.chat/support), and shaking the phone
inside the app reaches us with the screen attached.
